3. School of Dentistry
The School of Dentistry, Kyushu University developed out of the Division of Dentistry (renamed as Division of Dentistry and Oral Surgery in October, 1927) in the School of Medicine which was founded in May, 1922. The School of Dentistry was separated as an independent School from the School of Medicine in June, 1967.
- June 1, 1967
- The School of Dentistry was established.
Three divisions (Division of Conservative Dentistry Ⅰ, Division of Prosthetic Dentistry Ⅰ, Division of Oral Surgery) were founded.
The Administrative Faculty Committee started functioning.
A quota of 40 students per year.
- April 1, 1968
- Four divisions (Division of Oral Anatomy Ⅰ, Division of Oral Physiology, Division of Oral Biochemistry, Division of Oral Pathology) were founded.
- March 6, 1969
- The first period construction of the building for basic dental science was completed.
- April 1, 1969
- Three divisions (Division of Oral Anatomy Ⅱ, Division of Oral Bacteriology,
Division of Dental Materials Engineering) were founded.
- June 1, 1969
- The Administrative Faculty Committee was abolished.
Faculty meeting in the School of Dentistry started functioning.
- March 12, 1970
- The second period construction of the building for basic dental science was completed.
- April 1, 1970
- Three divisions (Division of Dental Pharmacology, Division of Preventive Dentistry, Division of Orthodontics) were founded.
- April 1, 1971
- Two divisions (Division of Conservative Dentistry Ⅱ, Division of Prosthetic Dentistry Ⅱ) were founded.
- May 10, 1976
- The Division of Dental and Maxillofacial Radiology was founded.
A quota per year was expanded to 60 students.
- April 18, 1977
- The Division of Oral Surgery was reorganized to Division of Oral Surgery Ⅰ and Division of Oral Surgery Ⅱ.
A quota per year was expanded to 80 students.
- April 1, 1978
- The Division of Pediatric Dentistry was founded.
- March 29, 1979
- The third period construction of the main building and the building for student training were completed.
- March 25, 1981
- New building was completed for research of clinical departments.
- April 1, 1985
- The Administrative office system started along with union of the both Administrative offices of School of Dentistry and University Dental Hospital, and General Affairs Section and Operative Affairs Section were founded.
- April 1, 1987
- A quota per year was changed to 60 students.
- April 1, 1999
- The Division of Dental Anesthesiology was founded.April 1, 2000The School of Dentistry was changed to five divisions (Intoroductory Dentistry, Dental Basic Science, Oral Disease and Pathology, Oral Health Science, Clinical Dentistry).
A quota per year was changed to 55 students.
- April 1, 2002
- A quota of 5 students per year for admission to the third year.
A quota per year was changed to 60 students.
- December 20, 2002
- New building was completed for student training.
- April 1, 2004
- Kyushu University was incorporated into Kyushu University, National University Corporation.
- March 19, 2010
- New building was completed for research of clinical departments.
- April 1, 2011
- The Admission to the third year was abolished.
A quota per year was changed to 53 students.
