Welcome to the Taste Lab!

Facing up to the the super-aging society, “maintaining QOL” and “extending healthy life expectancy” are urgent and most important issues for us.

“Taste” is deeply involved in the expression of the deliciousness (happiness and QOL) of food and the selection of nutrients in the oral cavity. Furthermore, in recent years, it has become clear that taste plays important roles such as hormone secretion and immunity influencing human health in various organs (brain, intestine, pancreas, etc.), reading causes of life style related diseases. In our laboratory, we analyze the physiological functions of taste at each level from molecules to nerves and individuals to develop new prevention and treatment methods for “taste disorders” and “lifestyle related diseases.”
