Research field introduction

Oral, Brain and Total Health Science

In our super-aged society, oral health is a key to the overall health, contributing to longer and healthier life. Oral Health, Brain Health, Total Health (OBT) Research Center, including nine specialized principal investigators covering various research fields, was founded in 2016. Our aim is to elucidate the biological processes that are related to disease processes of physical conditions and disorders. We collaborate to make connection between the clinic, where patients are treated, and the laboratory, where basic research is conducted.

From 2020, we welcome graduate students who join OBT Research Center to pursue academic development opportunities.

Message to students

Did you know that oral health is a key to your overall health? Japan is the world’s fastest aging country, defined as a “super-aged society”, thanks to the advancements in medical technologies. An aging society results in socioeconomic consequences including rising health and medical expenditure. OBT Research Center was founded to tackle this issue from oral-health perspective. We, as dentists, are carrying out comprehensive research from molecular biology, studies of the smallest scales, to clinical research.
